It’s a win most of us thought we’d never see

A 108-year curse was recently lifted. Well, some say it’s a curse. Others say it’s just bad luck, bad management, lack of funding, lack of talent, etc.. Either way, it’s been one heck of a time for the Chicago Cubs who have not won the Major League Baseball’s World Series since 1908. But on November 2, they broke the streak by beating the Cleveland Indians.

And to celebrate, they went to Walt Disney World Resort. Where else would you go?

MVP Ben Zobrist, Addison Russell, and Javier Baez went to the Resort on Saturday to enjoy their victory. The resort is honoring them with a parade down Main Street USA at Magic Kingdom Park.

Mickey Mouse will be joining the baseball stars for the parade along with expected crowds of fans. After the parade the players will be hanging out in the parks with their families and friends – a fantastic way to end a great week for them.

The World Series came down to the wire, leaving people biting their nails while on the edge of their seats (how many cliches can I fit into one sentence?). It was a dramatic Game 7 (the series is best out of seven), and it went ten innings (a typical game is just nine innings). The World Series drought that the Cubs were experiencing was the longest in MLB history.

This parade continues the tradition of Disney Parks honoring talented sports champions from pro football, basketball, hockey, baseball, and many others. Remember when Disney honored players from the Boston Red Sox’s championship team? They threw them a parade at Walt Disney World Resort back in 2004.

All Disney Resorts hold parades daily, seeking to entertain its guests as much as possible.

Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade

The Electrical Parade train makes it's way through Disney's California Adventure on April 16, 1020. The last Electrical Parade will take place Sunday. This parade to honor sports champions is not the only parade in town. The Main Street Electrical Parade on loan from Disneyland in California is an icon in the parade history of Disney. Last month, it made its final run through the Walt Disney World theme park.

The Electric Light Parade first made its debut in 1972 at Disneyland park, moving to Disney World only after a long and successful run that lasted until almost the late 90’s. It reappeared as part of the revival of Disney’s California Adventure before being shipped off to Walt Disney World. The parade no longer runs every year but delivers exciting and nostalgic entertainment when it does. Disney announced a few months ago that the Electrical Parade will now be officially retired. It is set to return in 2021 when the park is 50 years old, but for now, it’s leaving.

Disney executives know people aren’t going to like the news, but they believe it’s the right decision. Plus, this may lure some people to the park to see this parade possibly for the last time. The Parade have its final performances in California for a limited-time, a final bow where it all began if you will.

There’s no word yet on a replacement parade, but Disney should be announcing that shortly.

So whether Disney puts on a parade to honor baseball players or just to entertain its guests, they know how to do it right.
