President Trump Selects Ten Individuals

Source Credit: salon.com President Trump is working on getting his own judges into power. “These ten individuals that the president has chosen were chosen by their deep knowledge of the law and their commitment to upholding constitutional principles,” said White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

Trump’s list includes ten names and two of which were originally suggested to work on the Supreme Court. The current vacancies include 129 total judicial vacancies, made up of 101 District Courts and 20 US Court of Appeals, with 8 listed as “other.”

This List Took Months To Create

“The President, with a chance now to shape American jurisprudence for many years to come. With the expected announcement of ten nominees to the federal bench, including a payer that could one day occupy the highest court in the land.”

“It was a list that was months in the making, but one the White House has been eager to reveal. President Trump’s first batch of judicial nominees contains ten judges, including two candidates he previously floated for the Supreme Court.”

Two Candidates Come From Previous Supreme Court Picks

The Hill reports:

“President Trump on Monday released his first batch of judicial nominees as he seeks to make his mark on the federal court system. Trump is nominating 10 judges, including two candidates he had previously floated for the Supreme Court, Joan Larsen and David Stras.”

“Larsen, a judge on the Michigan Supreme Court, is being nominated for the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, while Stras, a judge on the Minnesota Supreme Court, has been tapped for the 8th Circuit.”

“Trump also tapped Amy Coney Barrett, a law professor at Notre Dame University Law School, for the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals; John Bush, a partner in the Lousiville office of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, for the 6th Circuit; and Alabama Appellate lawyer Kevin Newsom for the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.”
