Phil Robertson, the patriarch of Duck Dynasty resently injected his Christian perspective into a heated political controversy. When the 11-year-old audio of Donald Trump’s conversation with William Hall “Billy” Bush, the co-host of The Today Show, hit the media with all its vulgarity, Republicans and Democrats both did what they do best.

Republicans gasped, and used it as a reason to pull the support (they never really gave). Democrats cried rapist.

Donald Trump apologized to his family, and to the nation.

“I’ve never said I’m a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I’m not,” Trump said…”I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade old video are one of them.” Donald Trump said in a video.

“Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong and I apologize,” he said.

Fox News host Sean Hannity didn’t defend the message, Hannity’s guest on the show and long time Trump supporter Judge Jeanine Pirro, called the exposed conversation “shameful.” Then she went on to say,

“But when you juxtapose words against the actions of a woman who sold arms to ISIS, against the actions of a woman whose life was destroyed, the women who was victimized by her husband.”

It’s important to note that while Hillary Clinton is not her husband, she is his enabler. She repeatly attacked and belittled his accusers from the very beginning. Her hypocrisy is astounding. Which Robertson has alluded to when he said,

“That’s about the most ungodly bunch I’ve ever seen,” Phil the Robertson said in a recent radio interview.

The bunch he was referring to is the Democratic party. Reports have quoted Robertson on more than one occasion, his bemoaning of the party kicking God out of their convention, and platform. Booing God out the door.

Robertson offered a more compassionate response to the embattled Trump campagn. While he never agreed or condoned the tape, in a radio interview he told the host that Trump needs more time. That we are all sinners.

What makes Robertson show more grace to a man that says such things, than to a woman who is condemning them?

Simple. One is repentant. The other is on the attack. When Phil Robertson spoke with Donald Trump, he told the candidate he was a sinner. Trump agreed. That is what has made the difference according to Robertson, who is also an ordained minister.

When someone is repentent, as Trump has been publicly, its much easier to have hope that they will hear from God, and lead the country in the right direction.

Which is of paramount importance to Robertson, as he lays out so well in his new documentary film.
