Sharing Missile Technology

Each have their own reasons for wanting to destroy this great nation, but they seem to be finding common ways to achieve that end goal. This is the stuff nightmares are made of-at least it is if you are President Trump. Although it’s not a pleasant thought for American citizens either.

Last week, Iran attempted to launch an underwater cruise missile from a “midget” submarine. This was their first attempt at launching the Jask-2 missile, but the launch was not successful. However, Pentagon officials were more worried about what they saw rather than what Iran attempted to do.

The Iranian submarine was based on a North Korean design, the same type of sub used to sink a South Korean warship in 2010. According to reports, nonproliferation experts have believed for quite some time that North Korea is sharing their designs and expertise with Iran. However, given the growing tensions in North Korea, it is becoming a bigger cause for concern.

Jeffrey Lewis, a missile proliferation expert at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, said “Over the years, we’ve seen photographs of North Korean and Iranian officials in each other’s countries.” Lewis also noted that they share…

North Korea successfully launched a missile from a submarine for the first-time in 2015, and military officials are concerned that Iran isn’t far behind. President Trump recently ordered a review of Obama’s Iran-Nuclear Deal, over growing concerns that the country is not abiding by the terms of the agreement.

While no such deal exists between the U.S. and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un, their continued pursuit of nuclear technology, and willingnes to share with Iran, is causing the threat to become exponentially more cumbersome. In July of 2016, just two days’ shy of the anniversary of the Obama accord, the home of the Islamic State attempted to launch a ballistic missile mirrored after North Korean technology.
