This New Key Player In The Trump-Russia Probe Has Ties To The Clintons

Australian diplomat Alexander Downer is the man who outed former Trump campaign member George Papadopoulos for allegedly colluding with Russia. The ex-Australian Foreign Minister also happens to have secured one the largest donations ever for the Clinton Foundation.

Last month, a GOP FISA memo revealed that Obama administration officials used the unverified Trump dossier to secure surveillance warrants against the Trump campaign. Democrats soon challenged that information as false.

Instead, Democrats asserted that a tip concerning statements made by Papadopoulos was behind the warrant request. Downer reported a conversation he had with the Trump adviser, which supposedly took place in a London bar in 2016, to the FBI.

However, what Downer, now the Ambassador to London, didn’t disclose is his relationship with the Clintons. According to The Hill, he arranged for the Australian government to donate $25 million to provide screening and drug treatment for AIDS patients.

The memorandum, discovered in memo archives on the Foreign Ministry website, clearly shows the signatures of both Downer and Bill Clinton. Although the money was initially slated for the Foundation, it was eventually funneled through Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI).

Republicans Speak Out

Naturally, Republicans are concerned about this new information. Mainly because it means all the“evidence” cited to secure the FISA warrants has connections to Trump’s biggest adversary. Every. Single. Piece. That is no coincidence.

“The Clintons’ tentacles go everywhere. So, that’s why it’s important,” said House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan. “We continue to get new information every week it seems that sort of underscores the fact that the FBI hasn’t been square with us.”

Not surprisingly, Democrats are once again accusing the GOP of unfairly attacking the FBI and targeting foreign allies. “The effort to attack the FBI and DOJ as a way of defending the President continues,” said Rep. Adam Schiff. “…the majority now seeks to defame our Australian partners as a way of undermining the Russia probe.”

Here’s a thought- maybe these “foreign allies” should start being truthful and then nobody will question their motives. Either way, the GOP doesn’t have to undermine the Russia probe because the Democrats are doing a fine job all on their own.
