During an interview with Focus On The Family, Korie Robertson opened up about her daughter Rebecca.

Korie talked about taking Rebecca in as a foreign exchange student back in 2004. At that time, Korie and her husband, Willie, already had four kids: John Luke, Sadie, Will, and Bella.

But they opened their home to this foreign exchange student, and in turn opened their hearts. Rebecca, in her junior year of high school, didn’t speak any English at the time.

After that first year was over, they invited her back for a second year, her senior year of high school.

“She came her senior year and it was somewhere in there that we just realized,” Korie said. “I remember telling somebody that I had four kids and one of my little ones said, ‘No, you don’t; you have five.’ And Rebecca just became one of ours.”

The host said it was great that they adopted Rebecca, but Korie had to correct him.

“So we have not officially adopted her,” Korie replied. “She just kind of has become ours.”

Rebecca went on to graduate from LSU and then moved to Los Angeles for a fashion internship. She then returned to West Monroe to live with the Robertsons. She and Korie then started a clothing store called Duck & Dressing.

Rebecca’s birth father passed away when she was just 11 years old, so Willie has become sort of a father figure to her. He even walked her down the aisle at her wedding.

“Willie walked her down the aisle and was able to wear her dad’s tie as he walked her down the aisle,” Korie said. “So that was a really, really special moment.”
