Miss Kay couldn’t contain her excitement while recording the Duck Dynasty Christmas album with George Strait. The matriarch of the Robertson family, Miss Kay was so excited to sing with both her husband, Phil Robertson and the Country Music legend.
Miss Kay Meets George Strait
The Duck Dynasty Christmas album is truly a work of art. Not only does it feature Christmas classics, like I’ll Be Home For Christmas, and Silent Night sung by the Robertsons, but it also features brand new songs with a redneck flavor.
One of the favorite songs on the album is Christmas Cookies, which Miss Kay and Phil Robertson recorded with Country music legend, George Strait. Miss Kay, in particular, couldn’t believe that Strait would agree to record with the family. She said, “I love George Strait, and him and Phil together, it’s the coolest thing ever.”
Korie agreed that the song is special. She explained, “The song choice Christmas Cookies is perfect for Phil and Miss Kay. Then I heard that George Strait is actually going to sing on our album. I mean that’s just incredible. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
Phil wasn’t as keen to the idea. However, he came around. He said, “Somebody else had to twist George Strait’s arm to get him to sing on an album with me. I don’t know who pulled that one off, I’m just along for the ride.”

Phil had his doubts about the album’s success. He told cameras, “If this sells even 1000 copies I’ll be shocked.” He never loved the idea and didn’t think people would take the Robertsons’ singing seriously. However, he was ultimately wrong. The album was wildly successful, and Korie thinks Phil and Miss Kay have a little something to do with that.
She said, “Of course Kay was in the studio with Phil the whole time they did it. They were laughing and being goofy, and I think it comes across on the album. You could tell they had fun with it.”
