Every superhero has an origin story, so why would Sheldon Cooper be any different? In a recent interview, actor Jim Parsons talks about his childhood and the idea to create the new series, Young Sheldon.

Actor Jim Parsons is working double-time at the moment. Not only is he filming Season 11 of The Big Bang Theory, but he’s also a producer and narrator for the new series, Young Sheldon.

Young Sheldon, of course, showcases the life of 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper.

Actor Jim Parsons has said that he feels respect, love, and empathy for the character of Sheldon Cooper. However, it is also a job, so he’s glad to see the character in a new light as the writers tackle the character in his childhood.

“To finally see this character that I’ve been riding side by side with for those ten years embodied as a young person, it creates a real feeling of sympathy in a weird way that I hadn’t necessarily had before. Iain, he embodies it,” said actor Jim Parsons.

Parsons said he has a distinct picture in his head of how the series could play out.

In reality, however, young Jim Parsons was nothing like young Sheldon Cooper. His childhood was much different. Parsons has said he wasn’t an “overly bright child.” Instead, he describes himself as more “mediocre.”

Parsons also believes that Sheldon would like to look back at his own childhood to put together an “autobiography for the help of all humanity.” This does sound like something right out of the mind of the egotistic Sheldon Cooper.

Then again, the writings of Benjamin Franklin, Leonardo da Vinci, and Albert Einstein have helped future generations understand their thought processes. Perhaps at the end of Young Sheldon, we’ll learn that this is what is happening.

Perhaps, in the final episode of Young Sheldon, we’ll see a version of Old Sheldon (played by actor Jim Parsons), as he writes down his thoughts on childhood.

Do you think “Old Sheldon” would still be married to Amy Farrah Fowler?
