Writer’s Strike May Delay TWD Season 8

This isn’t something that anyone wants to hear, but it’s possible that a writer’s strike will delay work on The Walking Dead Season 8, which should begin in May. The Writer’s Guild is holding out due to a negotiation problem.

May will be when production begins on the show, and while most of it has likely already been written, this could be an issue for future episodes of the show. In addition, the scripts are currently the property of the Writer’s Guild.

The last strike in 2008 affected shows like Breaking Bad, Lost, Entourage, The Office, Jericho, and Rescue Me.

Currently, AMC hasn’t commented on how this might change Season 8 of The Walking Dead. There’s no real reason to think the show will be delayed, especially since the show doesn’t begin until October, but it is a possibility.

Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus have already expressed their excitement to return to work. Lincoln said, “I am ready to go. I can’t wait. It’s going to be insane this season.”

In addition, Norman Reedus also tweeted a picture of himself with Lincoln.

Comic Book revealed:

“ComicBook.com has reached out to AMC for comment regarding whether or not the writer’s strike will effect production of The Walking Dead and will update accordingly. Right now, there is no reason to believe anything other than everything going as planned, with a premiere date of the series likely coming in mid to late October.”

Whatever happens with the Writer’s Strike is anyone’s guess, but hopefully it won’t affect The Walking Dead. It’s likely the writers are already jotting down notes and coming up with ideas for the show.

When The Walking Dead does return, it’s time for Rick’s War with Negan. Between now and October, it’s likely we’ll see a trailer at Comic Con and then perhaps AMC will release photos like they did with the Season 7B return.

What do you look forward to the most about Season 8 of TWD?
