In a landmark meeting that Obama would soon like to forget, Israeli Prime Minister met with the Republican candidate.

Netanyahu and Trump met for over 90 minutes at Trump Tower on Sunday. The meeting comes on the eve of the first presidential debate set to occur on Monday.

The two leaders talked about military systems and the importance of the relationship between the two countries. They also talked about efforts to restore order and peace in the Middle East. Not to mention the nuclear deal with Iran, as well as Israel’s border fence. A topic which was widely seen as a nod to the Republican candidate’s plans for the southern border.

A long-standing friend of Israel, in 2013 Trump record a video endorsing Netanyahu and his government. It was evident that, despite what Hillary Clinton likes to state, Donald Trump is able to promote America’s influence by working with our allies. His tough stance on Iran, and his endorsement for Netanyahu’s government stand in sharp contrast with the wake of Hillary Clinton as secretary of state under the Obama administration. As such, Trump is ready to lead America’s foreign policy. He is ready to enter the world leadership stage, and world leaders take him seriously.

This comes as a sharp contrast to Obama, who has undermined America’s friendship with Israel throughout his presidency. Obama has seen Israel as a threat to establishing a Palestinian state; which was his main ambition for the Middle East.

For Obama, Netanyahu and his government have been an obstacle to establishing his goal. Throughout the administration’s efforts to undermine Israel, Netanyahu has also urged Obama on the necessity to have a tough stance towards the ayatollahs in Iran. A stance which crumbled as the Iranian government received a 400 million ransom pay-day. It was only recently that Obama stated that the two nations have an ‘unbreakable bond’. He then asked Netanyahu to a game of golf. To which Netanyahu stated that he did not play golf, but that Israel had a great golf course for the soon to be former president.

Netanyahu also met with Hillary Clinton on Sunday evening. This demonstrates that for world leaders, and contrasting with Hillary’s slander, Trump is at a world stage ready for the responsibilities of the presidency. Clinton’s campaign has made a continuous effort to slander the Republican candidate by labeling him incompetent. But her efforts have fallen on the deaf ears of world leaders. This included Netanyahu and President Pena Nieto of Mexico, who wish to establish a strong partnership with America, and see a viable plan with Mr. Trump.

A statement from the Trump camp read, “Mr. Trump recognized that Israel and its citizens have suffered far too long. They’re the ones on the front lines of Islamic terrorism,” the statement continued,

“He agreed with Prime Minister Netanyahu that the Israeli people want a just and lasting peace with their neighbours, but that peace will only come when the Palestinians renounce hatred and violence and accept Israel as a Jewish State.” The statement is revealing. Why? Because of Israel’s rocky relationship with the Obama administration. And some are calling America’s broken deal with Israel. Obama has had a continuing antagonizing effort towards our Middle Eastern ally. That both hurts international security and undermines America’s efforts against terrorism in the area. Trump’s meeting demonstrates a new focus on leadership and a renewed friendship with one of our most crucial allies.
