Scott Gimple Talks Walking Dead Finale
The Walking Dead | Photo Credit AMC Season 8 won’t hit AMC until October, but there may be some spoilers in Season 7 that will play out when The Walking Dead returns. One of these has to do with what Sasha told Eugene in the finale.
Executive Producer Scott Gimple told TV Line that Sasha’s conversation about Eugene was meant to hint at what will happen next season. That was “a hint to what the story is. It certainly looked like he was still a Savior,” said Gimple.
“But is that going to haunt him…change him? Or is he forever Negan?” he said.
Eugene Sides With Negan

Eugene’s balance between good and bad are from cowardice, but they also represent Neganism as a whole. Before, Rick was only concerned with killing Negan, but there’s so much more that needs to happen.
It’s been unclear whether Eugene has been playing a part or if he has truly dove into being Negan. Based on his announcement to Rick in the finale, it certainly looked like he was forever Negan.

Eugene definitely felt more important working with the Saviors. He felt safe with Abraham and Rosita, but he needed safety and respect. With this respect, he has been given important jobs, plus several perks.
At the end of the finale, however, Negan distrusts Eugene and believes he is the reason why Sasha died in the casket. Sasha’s words may signal the fact that Eugene eventually regrets siding with Negan so quickly.
Fans won’t get any real answers until the series returns in October, but there’s a lot to consider between now and then. Will Eugene regret siding with Negan? Will Eugene reveal his true intentions? Is Eugene really Negan?
