First Lady, Melania Trump, made her first solo outing this week to put smiles on the faces of some sick children at New York Presbyterian Hospital. March 2nd was “World Reading Day” and to commemorate the occasion, she read her favorite Dr. Seuss book Oh the Places You’ll Go to children in the pediatric ward.

The First Lady told the children,

“I came to encourage you to read – and to think about what you want to achieve in life.”

Children’s issues are very important to Melania-and rightfully so. The National Assessment of Educational Progress tested fourth-grade children nationwide and found that a staggering 38% scored below average in reading and comprehension. No doubt the result of liberal education policies.

Her book choice also seems fitting given the fact she has risen from the dangerous streets of Yugoslavia to become one of the most beloved first ladies in American history. But none of this matters to those who want nothing more than to tear her down.

Rather than taking in the sweet moment, or even noticing the children, they chose to comment about her “stilettos and diamond ring.” Elle magazine’s FB page sarcastically commented about…

Great Responsibility

Melania enthusiastically told the children that “You’ll be as famous as famous can be”- a loving remark meant to compliment her husband. But Elle magazine took it as an opportunity to slam the first lady:

“With fame comes great responsibility, right Melania Trump?”

Melania will not be sidetracked by the disparaging remarks.

Her statement on the visit speaks volumes about what really matters to her.

“I am a passionate believer in integrating and interpreting nature’s elements into our daily lives to create a warm, nurturing and positive environment. I believe that these same natural benefits can be instrumental to enhancing the health and well-being of all children. It is important to me that children can recognize, identify and express their feelings in order to promote their mental wellness and healing process.”
