Social Security Fraud

Illegal immigration and Social Security are two hot-button topics. Millions of Americans rely on social security as their sole means of income. They also understand that illegal immigration is a financial burden on the system.

So how are these two topics linked? You might be surprised.

There are approximately 11.5 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S. Many of them work and pay into social security under fake names and identification numbers. A problem President Trump has pledged to address.

On the surface, it would seem that because of this fraud they would be unable to ever collect benefits–that is not entirely factual.

There is one particular program, a darling of the Democrats, that threatens the sustainability of Social Security. It also poses dangers to the financial security of the who count on the system. The program was created by Obama, known as DACA– Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

DACA is the amnesty program for illegal aliens who entered the country as minors. It essentially would allow illegals to obtain real social security numbers. Eventually, they would be able to claim social security benefits that were fraudulently earned.

According to a report from the Federation for American Immigration Reform, DACA represents A very significant additional liability for the Social Security Trust Fund and will further hasten the insolvency of the system.”

In addition, the Social Security Act:

“Prohibits the payment of benefits to aliens in the united states who are not “lawfully present”; however, under certain circumstances, alien workers as well as their dependents and survivors may receive benefits while residing outside the united states (including benefits based on unauthorized work).”

The implications of amnesty are extensive and far reaching…

Something has to be done.

The estimated financial burden to social security is $500 billion dollars. President Trump has taken massive steps to halt illegal immigration. A problem that is morally, and unethically irresponsible, that creates a threat to the solvency of the system.

It jeopardizes the financial future of those who are rightfully entitled to their money that was withheld all their working lives. His fight against illegal immigration is no doubt a vital part of his economic plans to save social security.
