Top 3 Easy-To-Make Dog Treats Perfect For Teething Puppies

By Sirena Van Schaik | Monday Monday Staff -    2018-03-07

I’m a sucker for a puppy, especially one enjoying a dog treat. They are just too cute, as they prance around the treat, happily licking and biting it. While there are plenty of treats for puppies on the market, these treats are easy to make, and perfect for a teething puppy.

Dog Treat Number One: Funky Monkey Frozen Treats

With only three ingredients, this frozen banana treat is perfect for the teething puppy. In addition, they are great for any dog when the weather gets too hot. They will cool them down in a flash.

While peanut butter is a favorite treat, make sure you choose a Xylitol-free peanut butter since Xylitol is harmful to dogs.

What You’ll need:

  • Whole milk yogurt, 4 cups
  • 3 bananas
  • 2 tablespoons of peanut butter

What You’ll Do:

  1. Mash the bananas and place in a food processor.
  2. Fold in the peanut butter and yogurt and blend until it is a puree.
  3. Pour into a dog treat mold or plastic cups. Freeze overnight.
  4. Let your dog enjoy this delicious treat.

Dog Treat Number Two: Soothing Dog Treats

These great little treats are a baked good that teething puppies love. Not only do they soothe their sore gums, they are tasty. One of the nicest things about this treat is it’s very easy to shape them into the size that works for your puppy.

What You’ll Need:

  • Chicken stock, 1 cup
  • Peanut butter, 1 cup
  • Whole wheat flour, 1 cup
  • Oats, 1 cup
  • 2 tablespoons of parsley
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder

What You’ll Do:

  1. In a large bowl, add all the ingredients together. Mix well.
  2. You will be left with a soft dough. Shape small mounds of the dough into a dog biscuit shape.
  3. Bake on a cookie sheet for 50 to 60 minutes in an oven set to 240°F.
  4. Cool completely and give to your puppy to help soothe his teething problems.

Dog Treat Number Three: Banana Dream Treat

This final treat is another great frozen treat for keeping teething puppies happy. It is also made with pumpkin, which is excellent for digestive health.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 Banana
  • Honey, 1 teaspoon
  • Whole milk yogurt, 1 cup

What You’ll Do:

  1. Mash the banana and place in a food processor.
  2. Add the yogurt and honey. Blend until it is mixed well.
  3. Pour into silicone dog treat molds or into an ice cube tray.  Freeze overnight.
  4. Give to your puppy whenever his teething is bothering him. Or give to any dog to cool them down during the hot summer months.

While I recommend these treats for teething puppies, all of these treats are great for dogs of all ages. I have tried them all and my dogs are always happy to ask for another one… your dog will enjoy them as well.
