As Kendrick Lamar’s “DNA” screams in the background, it’s clear that Marvel’s Black Panther is going to be a wild ride. The superhero genre, both DC and Marvel, continue to grow and get better and better. This good news for actress Danai Gurira.

There was actually a standing ovation when the trailer premiered at the Comic-Con International and some fans even left in tears. It was exactly the type of reactions the creators wanted, given that it has taken years to get the movie made.

This is the first Marvel movie to take place in Wakanda.

”I’ve Seen Aliens Drop From The Sky”

Most of the Marvel movies either exist in New York City or in space. Based on the trailer, it looks like the film was waiting on technology to advance to be made. In addition, it’s also the first African American cast in a movie this epic.

We got a glimpse at the African nation in the film, Captain America: Civil War. T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) is now the king of Wakanda after his father died in the previous film.

In the new film, it’s time for T’Chala to figure out “what kind of king [he is] going to be…”

Does Franchise Mean Death Of Michonne?

The new Marvel film comes from Ryan Coogler, who has worked with Michael B. Jordan many times before. His previous credits include Fruitvale Station and Creed, which both star Jordan as the leading role.

In addition to Chadwick Boseman, the film also stars Angela Bassett, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Sterling K. Brown, Forest Whitaker, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, and The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira as Okoye.

Danai Gurira is likely enjoying her new look after playing Michonne for several seasons on The Walking Dead. She’s often complained about the heavy wig in the hot Georgia heat while working on the series.

It’s unclear if this film will mean her character could soon perish on The Walking Dead, but it’s likely she can work around the various schedules. Either way, fans are looking forward to seeing more of Danai Gurira in her many action roles.

Did you recognize Michonne from this new trailer?
