LOOK CLOSELY: Did You Notice THIS “Detail” During The Rick/Negan Fight?

Despite it being the mid-season finale, we didn’t get to see a lot of Rick Grimes or Negan in the final 90 minutes of The Walking Dead Season 8 (Part A). After the Scavengers turned and ran, Rick Grimes was basically on his own to head back to Alexandria.

Rick came into his house while the rest of Alexandria burned to the ground. Inside, he called out for Judith, Michonne, and Carl Grimes. With the swing of Lucille, Negan knocked the gun out of Rick’s hands.

“This sh*t isn’t funny anymore,” said Negan. “Don’t make me do this now, Rick. I’ve got plans for you.”

More than likely, Negan is talking about hanging up Rick on his walker fence. Throughout Season 8, the Saviors have made it clear that they want Rick Grimes, King Ezekiel and Maggie alive, so they can kill them at the Sanctuary.

Negan gives Rick another plan as he monologues during the fight scene. Eventually, when Rick has had enough, he asked, “Don’t you ever just shut the hell up?”

When Rick gets away, Negan told him that Carl Grimes volunteered to die.

Negan then told Rick Grimes that Carl would one day be one of his top guys. This is the first time that Rick really fights back. With a swing, he slugs Negan in the jaw and the two go back-and-forth for a few swings.

Then, Negan tossed Rick Grimes into a bookshelf. Like Jason Bourne, Rick found an item to use on Negan. As the Savior leaded spoke, Rick Grimes turned and clocked him with an uppercut, using a brass cup like a pair of brass knuckles.

“When I’m done with you, nobody will ever try to do what you did. Not ever again!” shouted Negan. After Rick Grimes knocked down Negan, he picked up Lucille and started to repeatedly hit him with the handle in the face.

Here, we’re reminded of the backstory of Lucille. Despite getting hit in the fact, Negan yelled, “Don’t you touch her!” From the ground, Negan kicked Rick Grimes away from him.

When Rick was about to go for his gun, Negan threw him through the window. All in all, the fight was anticlimactic but certainly not the last time we’ll see these two get into a brawl.

Do you think Rick Grimes should have gone back inside?
