Dreadfully Slow Season 7 Worries Fans

Even after fans got over Negan’s brutal murders in last year’s Season 7 premiere, the rest of the season was dreadfully slow. The second half of the season was certainly better than the first, but some fans are worried the show will continue to have problems with pacing.

Some of these issues come from the various storylines that do not come from the comic book. When adapting a grander story for television, the writers can really explore the characters but that sometimes can wander too far.

The worst rated episode last season was Oceanside’s introduction, “Swear.”

Walking Dead Creator Promises Better Season

Robert Kirkman has promised a much better season this October. “We all know it’s the All-Out War storyline. Season 8, we’re trying to do a more fast-paced, action-packed season really focusing on momentum.”

With momentum being the main focus, the series should be able to really get going once both sides get set up for war. This could mean that the first half of eight focuses on the battle and the second half deals with the aftermath, or they could shoot for sixteen full episodes of war.

“Expanding The Scale…”

Robert Kirkman elaborated his plans for these below characters:

“[The Walking Dead] has been all about an expanding scale for the last two seasons, and that’s really hitting its pinnacle this season. We’ve got all these different factions, all these different locations —the Hilltop, the Sanctuary — and getting all these people together and continuing to expand the scale in a cool way, but really using all these pieces to their fullest.”

“We’ve spent a lot of time setting these characters up, and now we’re going to bash them against each other and see what happens. … This is another continuation of that; this is a very fresh take on the world of The Walking Dead, and we’re going to be breaking a lot of new ground this season.”
