How or when Johnny Galecki may join the Roseanne reboot has been on everyone’s minds. The actor has agreed to come back and do the series as David. The reboot got a release date of March 27, 2018 at 8pm.
ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said, “The Conners’ joy and struggles are as relevant—and hilarious—today as they were then, and there’s really no one better to comment on our modern America than Roseanne.”
The new series has been greenlit for 9 episodes.
Johnny Galecki Returns As David
In addition to Johnny Galecki, Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman, Lecy Goranson, and Sarah Chalke will also return. Many will recognize Metcalf (Aunt Jackie) as Sheldon’s mom on The Big Bang Theory.
Originally, Roseanne was on from 1988 until 1997, where they gained attention by showing a true working-class family on television. The original series won 17 Emmys over the 9-year stretch.
This time, the show will continue to follow the family as they live from paycheck to paycheck in 2018.
New Beginnings And Potential Endings
Since Roseanne is going to be up and running by March, it’s possible that Johnny Galecki will be leaving The Big Bang Theory. Additionally, it’s possible that the entire show will come to an end after Season 12.
Hopefully, Galecki will be able to work double-time and film both shows at the same time for the next two years. In addition to his new role, the various other leads have also agreed to start or appear on new shows.
Simon Helberg, who plays Howard, is creating a CIA-based comedy for CBS. Jim Parsons has already created Young Sheldon and plans to produce a medical drama. He’s also bought the rights to a dramatic memoir.
Finally, there’s Kaley Cuoco. Not only is she planning a wedding, but she has also just started a production company and has bought the rights to The Flight Attendant. Cuoco will star and produce the mini-series.
