“He means he’s writing a book,” said Penny about her husband. On the latest episode of The Big Bang Theory, the Hofstadters announced that Leonard Hofstadter is planning to write his first book. “It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time,” said the future author.
At this point, it would have been nice to take a few guesses at what Leonard planned to write about, but Penny quickly gave us a spoiler summary. “It’s about a brilliant physicist who solves crimes using science,” said Penny.
Besides the fact that Sheldon thought the book would be about him, we’re interested to know more about Leonard future book.
Leonard Hofstadter Plans His Author Debut
It’s almost surprising that The Big Bang Theory hasn’t already come up with ideas for a book or graphic novel. After all, they’ve all been obsessed with comic books, movies, and all-things-nerd for over a decade now.
In order to know more about Leonard Hofstadter’s upcoming book, we have to think back on some previous episodes of the show. In an episode called “The Romance Resonance,” Penny gave Leonard the first edition of his favorite book.
As a child, Leonard Hofstadter loved The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Leonard’s Guide To The Galaxy
Douglas Adams wrote the original book, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy before it was later turned into a movie. The story actually started as a radio comedy broadcast in the 1970s, but it was adapted into other formats.
The story follows Arthur Dent, who joins Ford Prefect moments before the Earth is destroyed. By using the electronic travel guide (Hitchhiker’s Guide), the duo learns to explore the galaxy and search for other humans.
Based on Penny’s description, Leonard Hofstadter’s book sounds more like Sherlock Holmes than The Hitchhiker’s Guide. Hopefully, we’ll get to hear more about his idea in future episodes and maybe the rest of the gang can also help with ideas.
If nothing else, Leonard’s idea sounds like a series, so there could be lots of ideas and perhaps even a comic book.
