Iain Armitage is a well-known kid in the theater world. His father was a Tony Award nominee for his work in Boy George, and his mother is a big time theater producer. So why did Young Sheldon‘s Iain Armitage say he was “so embarrassed” at the Tony’s?
Iain Armitage was on the Tony’s red carpet to celebrate Broadway’s biggest night. The event took place at Radio City Music Hall and honors the year’s best and most successful musicals. Iain appeared on the Tony’s red carpet as a correspondent for Perez Hilton, and the past few years he’s become an internet sensation interviewing stars as an adorable child actor.
This year, things were a little different. Iain posted a “morning after” video to his Instagram saying, “I’m so embarrassed.” Why was the little dude so embarrassed? Apparently, Iain didn’t have time for a nap before the ceremony and fell asleep during the show. He said, “I tried really hard, but I was so tired…I’m so embarrassed…I fell asleep in the middle of the Tony Awards.” He went on to clarify, “It wasn’t because it was boring or anything! I was just so tired.”
There’s literally nothing more adorable than Iain admitting he couldn’t hang with the grown ups- and who can blame him. The show ran into the late hours of the night. Iain promised to check out all the performances on DVR, and we’re sure he’ll be blessing us with a stunning critique of the performances soon.
Iain At The Tony’s
Highlights of Sunday night’s show included an epic speech from Better Midler, who won best leading actress in a musical for her work in Hello, Dolly! Ben Platt of Dear Evan Hanson won best leading actor, and Dear Evan Hanson also won best musical.
We can’t wait to see what Iain Armitage has to say about the 2017 Tony Awards, can you?
