Amy Farrah Fowler and Sheldon just got engaged, but they could be off to a rocky start. There’s no reason to think the couple can’t make it work. Nevertheless, it’s curious that Amy can’t tell Sheldon the truth in the latest Big Bang Theory.

When her man finds out that they’re casting a new Professor Proton, Amy decides to help Sheldon film an audition. In the tape, however, it’s pretty clear that his tactics aren’t meant for children.

Amy, trying to be supportive, by avoiding telling Sheldon the truth.

Later, Sheldon is excited to show Leonard and Penny the audition tape. But, you can tell by Penny’s face that she is shocked by the video, and not in a good way. We also learn that Amy is afraid to tell Sheldon how she feels.

Amy reveals that she’s already told Sheldon how good the audition is, but tells their friends to comment on it being “confusing, dangerous or 3-4x too long.” While she can’t say this outright, she’s looking for a backup.

Is Amy too scared to hurt Sheldon’s feelings?

Sheldon Cooper is often difficult to deal with, but Amy needs to be the one to put in the work. Perhaps in a way, using Leonard and Penny for back up is her way to tell her man the truth.

Also, Penny offers some advice that clarifies things for Sheldon. Penny tells her friend that despite his true thoughts, he needs to at least act like he likes children and portray that in the character.

Amy Farrah Fowler may not have been able to tell Sheldon this type of truth. In fact, Penny was only the beginning of this truth. Sheldon later went to see his friend Wil Wheaton, but he got additional bad news at the end of the episode.

Wil Wheaton ended up getting the job as Professor Proton, which later enraged Sheldon. In the end, however, it would appear that Sheldon finally understood it’s better for the kids to have an actor take on the role.

Do you think Amy was too scared to tell Sheldon the truth about this tape?
