Jim Parsons was born in Houston, Texas on March 24th, 1973. He also studied acting at the University of Houston. In an interview with Time Magazine Parson explained,
“I didn’t lose my Texas Twang completely. I know on the show it comes out sometimes.”
The actor also admitted talking to his mother on the phone brings the accent out even more.
“If I’m talking to my mom on the phone and everything…there’s sort of a drawl and what have you.”

While in college, Parsons performed in 17 stage plays. His initial acting experience was not in front of a camera. Back in 2011 Parsons was asked if he would like to return to stage acting. Parsons answered,
“I would love nothing more, and I’m actively trying to see a way to get back… The right fit…the right situation to do a New York play.”
It turns out he got his wish; in 2015 Jim Parsons starred in An Act Of God on Broadway. The play was directed by Joe Mantello and was received positively.

Many fans were initially shocked to hear that Jim Parsons has never seen a single episode of Star Trek. Many fans assume that The Big Bang Theory actor knows just as much as Sheldon.
Parsons has said,
“I get asked a lot of science things, and I’m like ‘Are you kidding?’”
While he may not be a theoretical physicist, Parsons was fascinated by meteorology as a child growing up on the Gulf Coast.
4. He Has Musical Talent

While Parsons might not be blessed with a scientific mind, he certainly is musically talented. He is a skilled pianist and has even shown his talents on the hit television series. Many of The Big Bang Theory cast members play instruments. They are quite the multifaceted bunch.
5. He’s Had A lot of Failure Before Success

Jim Parsons certainly has quite a bit of success. With 10 seasons of television stardom under his belt, it’s hard to believe that the actor appeared in 15 Pilots that never saw screen time. He even appeared in a Quiznos commercial during his early career.
Parsons is proof that hard work and persistence pays off.
