Brett Eldredge recently released a music video for his hit single The Long Way. Some fans assumed the song had been written for Sadie Robertson, who stars in the video. However, Brett clarified that isn’t exactly the case.

When The Long Way music video was released, fans were stunned to see Brett Eldredge and Sadie Robertson getting cozy on film. Immediately rumors began to fly that the pair is a real-life couple and that Brett wrote the song for Sadie.
However, that isn’t the case.
Brett says he wrote the song for a woman he’d like to meet in the future. He dreams of meeting someone he’ll be able to sing The Long Way for someday. He said, “It’s a look into what I want to find in love. It’s about getting to know somebody more than just on the surface, getting to know somebody deep down to their core.”

Brett wants to be in a relationship where he feels comfortable enough to really get to know her. “I think this song says don’t be afraid to have that conversation, don’t be afraid to get to know that person…” He explained.
The music video shows Sadie Robertson leading Brett around her fictional hometown and house. Brett explained, “It’s them telling you everything about where they came from. You want to know every single detail – where they wrecked their bike the first time, where their parents fell in love, the lot where the car they drove in high school is sitting…”

However, it’s hard to believe Sadie is genuinely in love with Brett and showing him her hometown. For one thing, most of America has seen Sadie’s hometown of West Monroe Louisiana on television. We know what her childhood home looked like, and we know a lot about her high school relationships and experiences. We even know who her crazy Uncle is. In that sense, this music video fails at being believable.
Despite this flaw, the video is beautifully shot, and the song is stunning. Sadie looks gorgeous as always, and we have to admit Brett looks handsome as ever. For the few minutes, it plays we suppose we can pretend we don’t know everything there is to know about Sadie Robertson already.
