Kunal Nayyar informed his fans he would be taking a major break from all social media. He failed to mention for how long, or why. Here’s what we think.

The Big Bang Theory star captioned the photo “Taking a much needed break from all social media. Till then, be wonderful to each other! Bye-Bye-Bye #zerodarkthirtyactivated.”

Many celebrities have decided to take breaks from social media at one point or another. Selena Gomez famously took a social media hiatus in 2016. The star explained to Vogue, “As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out… (Instagram) had become so consuming to me. It’s what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn’t want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn’t want to care about.”

Other celebrities who have taken brief breaks from the internet include Kendall Jenner, Anne Hathaway, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, and Lena Dunham.
It’s unclear why Kunal felt the need to make the clean break. Perhaps Kunal was feeling overwhelmed by the present political climate and outpour of negativity. His most recent tweet was a retweet from Neil DeGrasse Tyson who said, “Space Aliens may be surprised to learn that Humans have multiple languages & cultures and we kill one another because of it.”

Before the break, Kunal had posted about once a week to Instagram. He had posted a photo of his cute dog next to an Ellen coffee mug and said, “I just can’t…that face…” He also showed his hair and wardrobe onset of Big Bang Theory playing Raj.
