Phil Robertson’s 1966 Football Game Footage Was Just Released

Phil Robertson is a multi-talent man. He’s not just good at making duck calls, he was also once great at football. In fact, he started ahead of Terry Bradshaw at Louisiana Tech.

Phil Robertson’s Football History

Phil Robertson was a well-known football player back in his college days. He hasn’t always been hunting ducks for a living but he has always had a passion for the sport. Phil was actually the starting quarterback for Louisiana Tech in college. Guess who he started ahead of? Terry Bradshaw, the great Superbowl legend.

Terry has said, “Well, he used to look like this, and was the starting quarterback at Louisiana Tech ahead of me. Now I wouldn’t have won a bunch of [Super Bowl trophies] if he hadn’t left football to hunt…”

This fun fact has fascinated fans for years. They’ve been searching for evidence of this mysterious time for years and we’ve finally found it. In this clip, Phil Robertson can be seen throwing pass after pass for the college team. It’s pretty crazy to see him back in his heyday.

However, Phil didn’t stick with the sport. He decided the professional athlete life wasn’t for him. He devoted his time to duck hunting, and the rest is history. Of course, now both he and Terry are famous in their own right.

Two Legends

A few years back, Terry and Phil reunited at a Louisiana Tech reunion. They made a great interview together. Phil said, “you had something I did not have. You had the desire to excel in the game of football, and I really had the passion for the old mallard ducks.”

Terry Bradshaw has always remembered Phil’s football skills. He said, “I used to tell everybody ‘There was a guy named Phil Robertson, guy had as quick a release as Joe Namath.”

It’s shocking that the two men knew each other a life time ago and have both had so much success in such different ways. Did you know Phil Robertson was a football star?
