Big Bang Theory had Big Bust at the Emmys

As mentioned in a previous post, the Big Bang Theory got the short stick when it came to the Emmys this year. None of the cast members were up for any awards, only guest stars. The Emmys site put those award winners up before the ceremony and none of the Big Bang Theory guest stars made the final cut. But now that the ceremony has aired, what about the technical awards that the Big Bang Theory was up for? Well, in case you missed it, I have the answers.

The Nominations

These nominations are for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (half hour or less). The episodes up for this honor are “The Positive Negative Reaction,” “The Big Bear Precipitation,” and “The Fermentation Bifurcation.” The second nomination is for Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, and Video Control for a series. The episode that brought this on is “The Celebration Experimentation.” Finally, the last nomination is for Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-Camera series. The episode that was deemed worthy – “The Convergence Convergence.”

The Ceremony

The first technical award that The Big Bang Theory was nominated for was outstanding technical direction, camerawork, and video control for a series. Unfortunately, Dancing with the Stars took that one home for the part 2 segment of the show’s finals.

How about the award for outstanding production design for a narrative program (half-hour or less)? Nope, Big Bang Theory lost to Amazon’s Transparent. The episodes that were honored were “Kina Hora,” “The Book of Life,” and, “Man on the Land.”

“The Convergence Convergence” was a great episode. So great, in fact, that it was nominated for outstanding cinematography for a multi-camera series. But it lost to Nickelodeon’s Nicky, Ricky Dicky, and Dawn “Go Hollywood.” Now that’s a travesty.

In a nutshell, the Big Bang Theory lost out on all its technical nominations. Sorry, everyone! Well, there is always next year and we do have a new season to look forward to. In fact, the first episode of season ten is just aired on Monday.

The Future

This season is shaping up to look pretty phenomenal, so Big Bang may just take the Emmys next year. Especially since Katy Sagal will be guest starring as Penny’s mother. Katy is absolutely hilarious and has been in such amazing comedies – Married with Children and Futurama, just to name a few. She is also amazing in dramatic roles. Sons of Anarchy, anyone!?!.

With this talent added to this already talented main cast of The Big Bang Theory, season 10 should be a shoe in for an Emmy next year. Don’t forget to check out all the drama with Penny, Leonard, and Sheldon’s parents this season!

We may finally find out what happened between Leonard’s mom and Sheldon’s dad. That should make for a lot of awkward conversations. Oh, and there’s also a baby Walowitz on the way! I wonder what the kid will look like. Does anyone think it may have Bernadette’s voice when the baby starts talking? That would be…interesting.
