The first league match against Real Betis was perfect. Barcelona dominated from every aspect. Suarez is the top scorer, and Barcelona is on top of the league.
That’s exactly what the fans expected.
That’s actually what everyone expected from a team that has the ambition to retain the league title. Arda Turan continued with his impressive form by opening the scoring. That was his third goal in the last two matches.
Messi’s incredible pass to Alba lead to Turan scoring the first goal. Barca’s number 10 was involved in every part of the game.
He even helped Suarez to start the season with a hat-trick:
There’s more good news for Barca fans. Rafinha is back at training after winning gold with Brazil at the Rio Olympics.
But they still have to wait for Neymar to finish the forthcoming round of World Cup qualifiers. The same goes for Iniesta. He was injured against Sevilla, and he will be sidelined for around two weeks.
The team looked sharp against R. Betis, and the absence of players like Neymar and Iniesta didn’t affect the game.
But Athletico Bilabo finished fifth in the 2015/2016 season. Which means this isn’t going to be a walk in the park for Barcelona.
Especially since they’re playing at San Mamés Stadium.
The last two matches between Barca and Bilbao both finished in Catalons favor. In the first away match, Barcelona defeat Bilbao with one goal difference.
Messi missed a penalty and Suarez scored in the second half to secure the 3 points at the start of previous season.
The second leg was pure magic. Barcelona scored six, and Bilbao scored none:
Suarez was the hat-trick hero all over again. Messi, Neymar and Rakitic scored as well.
But what can we expect in the upcoming match between these two?
Barcelona had a great start, and Bilbao lost their first league game against Sporting. We’re predicting a great game with Barca coming on top with a win.
Even though Bilbao started the season with a defeat, they’re still a serious team that could cause trouble for both Barcelona and Real.
Especially when they’re playing at home.
They didn’t sold any key players, and they’re competing for a place among the top 5 in La Liga. They’re probably not going after 3 points versus Barcelona, but a draw will make the fans and the manager happy.
This means they could “park the bus” and wait for their chances on the counter attacks. Let’s hope Enrique has a plan B prepared in case Bilbao goes in full defense mode right from the start.
Right after the Bilbao game, Barcelona is facing Alavés at home. That’s a game were we expect Enrique to give a chance to youngsters from the academy.
Deportivo Alavés is one of promoted team from second division, and shouldn’t cause Barcelona any trouble at all.
