Sadie revealed in her Live Original blog that the reality of her high school relationship was far from what was seen in the press. Many fans remember the picture-perfect couple Sadie and Blake Coward made. They often traveled together, smiling for photographers and embracing. We all expected them to get married young, as Sadie’s brother did with Mary Kate Robertson.

However, Sadie is now saying, “Hindsight is 20/20,” and that their relationship was tumultuous and unhealthy. She describes a hot and cold romance with “passionate” fights frequently. She warned fans, “Although it is normalized in our society, I want you to know that fear, jealousy, pain, selfishness, impurity, manipulation and degrading comments are all UNHEALTHY components in a relationship and should not be considered normal.”

Sadie also explained that she felt pressured to stay in the relationship because of the time that had been spent together. However, she said she and fans would be better off making the clean break. “…get out! You can break up. That’s an option. It’s much better to go to school the next day and face the awkwardness than going on your whole life living in a relationship that is not of love.”

God In The Relationship

The Robertsons are famous for speaking about their God-centered relationship, but this time Sadie was speaking about a relationship without God. “Over time, we welcomed sin in and allowed it to create a wedge between us and God. We unintentionally removed ourselves from the foundation of true love. God never moved or separated himself from us, we just tuned out truth and started walking down our own path. That is a dangerous yet very common place to be.”
