President-elect Donald Trump had once considered reinstating waterboarding “and worse” for dealing with terrorists, but he no longer feels such drastic options are necessary. Trump’s original stance on the waterboarding issue makes sense, as it was perhaps an extreme attempt to show he means business with terrorists.

Trump, in an effort to unite the country, has now said he’s against waterboarding, and has also stated that global warming may be caused by certain man-made activities. According to Politico’s Matthew Nussbaum, Trump has been reported as saying he will keep an “open mind” in regard to climate issues. “I think there is some connectivity,” admits Trump in regard to people causing some global warming.

Trump on Global Warming

In the past, Trump aligned himself with those who feel that climate change and global warming are more of a hoax. In March, he told the Washington Post, “I am not a great believer in man-made climate change.”

The theory on global warming is that humans are producing carbon dioxide, which is then trapped in the atmosphere. Human-produced CO2 is only around 3 percent of the CO2 chemicals in the atmosphere, so it’s doubtful that humans are doing much to create any type of global warming.

But how will his new stance on global warming change Trump’s future actions?

Why Has Donald Trump Changed His Views?

It’s possible that Donald Trump could reverse Obama’s Clean Power Plan rule, which is currently trying to shut down various power plants across the country due to CO2 production.

When Obama signed the “climate change” treaty with Paris, Trump commented, “I’m looking at it very closely” and “I have an open mind to it[.]”

Why Waterboarding Took A Dive

Mr. Trump has now also suggested a change of mind about the usefulness of waterboarding and other forms of torture.

After talking with James N. Mattis, a retired Marine Corps General who headed the United States Central Command, Trump stated his new views about waterboarding.

“[James N. Mattis] said, “I’ve never found it to be useful,” Mr. Trump said, describing the general’s view of torturing terrorism suspects. He added that Mr. Mattis found more value in building trust and rewarding cooperation with terror suspects. “Give me a pack of cigarettes and a couple of beers and I’ll do better.”

Trump added, “I was very impressed by that answer.”

What do you think about waterboarding and Global Warming? Should Trump’s original stances stay, or should they go?
