Rick And Negan Aren’t So Different

The Walking Dead | Photo Credit AMC Since Negan arrived on The Walking Dead, fans have been divided. Some hate him and some love to hate him. In the end, however, many believe Negan and Rick are quite similar, but we’ve simply known Rick much longer.

If someone came in and killed a dozen of Rick’s men in an outpost, how might he react to the situation? Thinking Rick would only kill one or two people is actually a minimal repercussion, compared to some of his past actions.

The showrunner also believe Rick and Negan are quite similar.

Scott Gimple Believes Rick And Negan Similar, But…

Comic Book spoke with Scott Gimple:

“I think if we followed Negan we might even be in the same place that we are with Rick where we’re like, ‘Whoa. What you’re doing there seems like the behavior of a bad person,’” Gimple said. “What’s interesting is, I think for Rick’s experience, he’s justified in what he’s been doing. The world has formed him this way and what he’s done has generally been a reaction to being threatened and trying to make sure that his people live. Things are getting greyer and greyer and greyer.”

“But I think the things that Rick has done you can hold up against the things that Negan has done and it’s not a vast gulf between those two but the way that they operate is very different. Their philosophies are very different and that’s maybe where we see one person being the hero and one person being the villain.”

“Not So Different, You And I…”

Since fans have got to see Rick Grimes rise to power, we believe in his ways and we see the justification he believes. With Negan, we only got to see the worst of a man who leads another tribe.

If we had only viewed Rick Grimes from the point-of-view of Alexandria, or more recently Oceanside, he seems pretty evil also.

Do you think there’s some good left in Negan?
