3Carol’s View Of The Kingdom

At first glance, it looked like Carol wanted to consider the Kingdom as impractical, similar as to how she viewed Alexandria at first. It appeared to be full of people who had survived, without ever having to really learn how to survive.

At a second glance, however, Carol was in a different place when she arrived at the Kingdom. Beyond being injured and seeing hallucinations, she was also looking for peace when she arrived at the Kingdom.

It’s likely that she felt unworthy of the Kingdom.

“There’s this colorful king and there is music and there are children laughing and running around and that’s really beautiful,” said actress Melissa McBride, who plays Carol on AMC’s version of the series.

“I don’t even think Carol thought she was even worthy of a place like that. Anyway, she had work to do on herself,” she confirmed.

This meant living alone outside of the Kingdom, but still somewhat protected and still near help if help were needed. In a way, Carol could live within danger, but still, have a place to visit if more healing were needed.
