North Korean Creates An Enemy
Kim Jong Un | Photo Credit Fox News North Korean has detained at least three U.S. citizens, while also making threats to sink the USS Carl Vinson as a show of force against America. North Korea’s rhetoric, of course, is likely more bark than bite.
In order to create a lifestyle of totalitarian rule, it’s important to create an enemy and the Kim family wants that enemy to be the United States. Essentially, if the bad guy is outside, then what happens inside is less significant.
Korean Expert Speaks Big, Scary Enemy
Blaine Harden, author, and North Korean expert, told Fox News:
“The rhetoric of the last couple months is similar to the rhetoric of the past six decades. What North Korea wants to do is to have an enemy. The Kim family regime—a totalitarian regime—needs a big, scary enemy. It’s like a fish needs water. It needs a certain amount of external threat to justify life in North Korea.”
“Life in North Korea is unpleasant. People live there and there’s a certain amount of buy-in to what the regime believes. The way to get that buy-in and to sustain that buy-in is to have a constant, existential threat. The Kim regime chooses the United States, for historical reasons, as its big, bad enemy.”
US Officials Consider Airstrike Against North Korea

The Independent reports:
“US officials have refused to rule out imminent air strikes on North Korea. The country could launch attacks if Pyongyang tests another nuclear device, according to the US ambassador to the United Nations.”
“Nikki Haley appeared on a range of morning TV shows to praise China’s involvement in trying to stop North Korea from launching more of its regular nuclear tests. She also criticized the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un, calling him unstable and paranoid.”
