Mayim Bialik was ordered by doctors to not speak for an entire month, due to damaged vocal chords.
Here’s how the star is coping with such a severe diagnosis and treatment plan.
Mayim Bialik’s Vocal Rest
Mayim Bialik was diagnosed with vocal chord damage and ordered to not speak for 30 days by her Ear Nose and Throat doctor in California. The star said, “Here’s a pic of me waiting for a check up from my ENT. I can’t speak for a month. Yup….” Mayim clearly looks less than enthused about the challenge of parenting, running an online business, and just getting through the world without her voice.
Mayim’s first move after hearing about the prognosis was to create a Youtube video with an ASL interpreter, to talk to her fans about what finding her voice means to her. Mayim also touched on what parenting her two sons without a voice might be like- admitting they’ll probably be watching a lot more movies other the next month.
Mayim also admitted she’s been spending a lot of time with her animals these past few weeks. The Big Bang Theory star said, “When I can’t speak…I spend a lot of time with my cats. This is the drooler. Note drool on my shirt. And those are amazing eyes. I know.”
It also seems Mayim isn’t letting her vocal rest get her down. She went go-karting for the first time in Ventura last week. We wonder what it was like to not be able to shriek in thrill.
She’s Keeping Her Spirits High
Mayim Bialik’s vocal rest doesn’t seem to be getting her too down. Mayim Instagrammed a photo on Monday that read, “When something goes wrong in your life, just yell, “Plot Twist!” and move on.”
Perhaps Mayim is keeping her humor about her, and facing the challenge of vocal rest head on.
