Rick Believes Shane Is Judith’s Real Dad

Last season, Rick Grimes confessed to his new girlfriend Michonne that he doesn’t believe he’s actually Judith’s real dad. Based on the timeline, this would mean that Shane Walsh is her father. Rick killed Judith’s real father.
There’s no real proof of this fact, however, seeing as it is really just Rick’s opinion on who’s Judith’s real dad. Regardless, the actors who play Judith’s real parents have recently sat down to discuss the plot twist.
Both of their reactions were quite thoughtful in nature.
Lori Actress Talks Judith’s Father

Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Lori on the show spoke about Rick Grimes’ confession. “It’s interesting because you actually landed in the middle of a very political question for me.”
“I’m the mother of an adopted son in reality, so to me, the parents of a child are the people who stand up and take responsibility for that child. I will lay down my life for that child, and I will love that child until the day I die,” confirmed the actress.
“That makes Rick Judith’s father regardless of her biology.”
Jon Bernthal Talks Baby Judith

Actor Jon Bernthal also responded to the plot twist. “I always thought in my gut it was Shane’s baby, but it was interesting that they took it there officially, that they had their Maury Povich moment,” he said before reflecting on how close he is with the cast, telling [the Huffington Post] they’re all “very much a family.”
“I think most important with that show is I really love the people that make that show. That cast are some of the actors that I’m closest with in my life,” said Bernthal, who still spends time with Andrew Lincoln at various Comic Con events.
In the end, the entire bunch is a bunch of zombie-slaying survivors, so it doesn’t really matter about the biology of the child.
