You Will Never Believe What Pep Guardiola Said About This Ex-Barcelona Player

Football has changed a lot in the past few years. It’s not just a hobby anymore, but a full time job. Football players are treated as super-stars and that’s not always a good thing.

Pep Guardiola was never a big fan of Yaya Toure. He sold Toure to Man City when he was at Barcelona, and they meet again.

Toure was a key player at Man City, before Guardiola arrived. But things are changed now, and Guardiola is not counting on the midfielder anymore.

However, he was probably willing to give Toure some playing time in less important matches. But Toure’s agent ruined the chance with a statement related to the fact that Guardiola didn’t include the player in the Champions League game.

“If he (Guardiola) wins the Champions League for City this season then I will travel to England and I will say on television that Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world,” Seluk told Sunday Mirror Sport.

“But if City don’t win the Champions League then I hope that Pep has got the balls to say that he was wrong to humiliate a great player like Yaya.”

“This is Pep’s decision and we must respect it. Yaya is a professional and so he will do everything he is asked to do.”

Pep was furious

Guardiola didn’t take the statement lightly. He was furious at Toure and his agent.

He said: “It was so difficult for me to put him out of the Champions League, so difficult. I know him, I know he’s a good, good guy, but the list is the list. “

“But the day after his manager [agent] spoke, and from that moment Yaya is out.

“Go to the media and apologise to Manchester City – the first one – the second one his team-mates and, after, the trainer. When that happens Yaya will be part of the group and he will have the same chance to play all the games. “

“I cannot accept as a coach every manager [agent], when his player doesn’t play, goes to the media and speaks and speaks and speaks.”

“I cannot imagine in my period when I was a football player, my manager [agent] going to the media and speaking against [then Barcelona boss] Johan Cruyff, about this and about that.

“Maybe it’s a new era now, the new period changing, but I’m an old guy. I am old generation, and an old generation manager has to make his players his job and trainers his job. “

“Today the managers believe they are more than they are. If he has a problem call [City director of football] Txiki Begiristain, the club, and they can talk. Until he doesn’t speak, Yaya is not going to play.”

Yaya Toure should start looking for a new club because Guardiola is not counting on him at all. He wasn’t going to include them in the first team even before the statement.

But now he has a reason and the support from the fans to keep Toure out of the team for good.
