Three Ways Trump Can Solve Health Care Crisis

After another failed health care vote, President Trump is responding to work on insurance companies, members of congress and Americans who promote Obamacare to get things moving in the right direction.

Trump writes, “If ObamaCare is hurting people, and it is, why shouldn’t it hurt the insurance companies and why should Congress not be paying what public pays?” Trump then made reference to three actions he could take.

Trump wants to cut off payments that insurers are owed under Obamacare, cut off assistance to Congress members that they use to purchase healthcare, and to shut down work on all other legislation until health care is resolved.

No Insurer Payments, No Health Care For Congress

NBC News writes:

Cutting Off Insurer Payments “…has been floating around for awhile now. Under Obamacare, insurers are required to help low-income customers with their out-of-pocket costs. Thanks to this feature, individuals making under $24,000 face average deductibles of $800 or less instead of $3,600 without it, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. The government, in turn, reimburses insurers for the difference.”

Next, when Congress passed Obamacare, it meant they also had to purchase health care through the law’s exchanges, so Trump can cut off health care to Congress. Senior fellow Robert Moffit from Heritage Foundation thinks Trump should cut off health care for Congress until this is resolved.

Blocking All Other Legislation

Finally, Trump can block all over legislation until the problem is solved. “Unless the Republican Senators are total quitters, Repeal & Replace is not dead! Demand another vote before voting on any other bill!” writes President Trump.

This will be harder to do, of course, since the legislative branch sets their own rules and follows their own schedule. While he can’t just stop Congress from voting, he could veto all bills until Congress worked with him though.
