[WATCH] MSNBC Host Outrages Thousands Of Christians With This Comment
Leftists are notorious for attacking anyone that doesn’t agree with them. But MSNBC host, Joy Reid, just crossed a line by slamming conservative Christians. Not only is she condemning them for praying she also suggests they have no understanding of God and the Bible.
In times of tragedy and triumph, Christians pray. Not as a substitute for being responsible or as a means of avoiding accountability but, to take action. Asking God for comfort in times of sorrow and giving thanks for His many blessings, teaches grace and humility.
However, Reid believes conservatives have distorted Christianity. “The far right has hijacked the concept of Christianity as if it only includes people who shun LGBT people, want to ban birth control and who follow prosperity preachers like Joel Osteen,” she tweeted.
Additionally, the AM Joy host suggests that conservatives “fetishize assault weapons and worship Donald Trump.” She goes on to call the thoughts and prayers shared for shooting victims in Texas, an “empty gesture.”
Then, Reid shares her definition of a good Christian:
“A lot of us believe in the Christianity that lifts up the poor, the sick, the widow and the orphan, not the rich, the cruel and the gun. A lot of us were raised in churches that lift up the immigrant, and we are able to view people of all faiths as our brothers and sisters. Saying we ‘don’t get religion’ is absurd.”
What the Bible Says
First, there is no such thing as “the Christianity.” Why is she speaking about spirituality as if there are versions? Cherry-picking faith to fit your political affiliations and agendas is not how it works.
Second, just because conservatives support upholding the law that doesn’t mean they don’t care about the less fortunate. But, hand-outs (welfare) never made anyone’s life better. “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth,” Proverbs 10:4.
Third, conservatives don’t oppose lifting-up legal immigrants. They are, however, against exalting criminals. “Those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow,” Romans 13:2.
Finally, and this is perhaps the most important lesson for Reid, Jesus Christ prayed. He prayed alone, with others, and for others. And He did so understanding that not every prayer, would bring the answer he was hoping for.
