3We The People Under President Trump

During Obama’s Farewell Address, he managed to refer to himself 75 times, either as “I,” “My,” “Me,” I’m, or “I’ve” while reflecting on his eight years as President. Despite saying that “it’s always been about [Americans],” Obama only referred to himself throughout his final statement as President of the United States.

President Donald Trump, on the other hand, chose to refer to the American people and his affiliation as an American. Trump only mentioned himself three times in two sentences but said “We” about 45 times.

In fact, when he did refer to himself, he said, “The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans…” With his other two personal references, he also only said “I” when referring to the American public.
