North Korea “Not Afraid” As They Prepare For 6th Nuke Test
North Korean Ambassador Says Nuclear Test To Continue As Planned
The Ambassador of North Korea told the UK that his country was planning to go ahead with their sixth nuclear test, despite any warnings they have received. Ambassador Choe II said his country would dismiss any UN sanctions.
Choe revealed, “In regards to the sixth nuclear test, I do not know the scheduled time for it, as I am here in the UK, not in my home country. However, I can say that the nuclear test will be conducted at the place and time as decided by our supreme leader, Kim Jong Un.”
If Choe does know anything, he’s clearly not saying.
North Korea Fearless Of United States
Sky News reports:
“Sky News asked the ambassador whether he was concerned about the prospect of US military action, which President Donald Trump’s administration has said is one of the options now being considered.”
“If we were afraid of it, we probably would not have started conducting nuclear tests or launching ballistic missiles,” the ambassador said. He added: “We are developing our nuclear strength to respond to that kind of attack by the US. “If the US attacks us, our military and people are fully ready to respond to any kind of attack.”
Experts Downplay Ambassador’s Responses
“Three experts downplayed a threat Tuesday from North Korea’s ambassador to the U.K. of another nuclear test by the isolated nation and the destruction of U.S. strategic assets.”
“I could be wrong, but this doesn’t feel like an escalation to me,” said Isaac Stone Fish, senior fellow, Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations. In an interview with Sky News on Tuesday, Ambassador Choe Il said North Korea is ready to conduct a sixth nuclear test at the bidding of dictator Kim Jong Un.”
“The U.S. cannot attack us first,” the ambassador said in an interview with Sky News on Tuesday. “If the U.S. moves an inch, then we are ready to turn to ashes any available strategic assets of the U.S.”
