Friday morning, earlier than expected, President Trump declassified the FISA memo. Key details from the controversial three and half page document confirm the worst with regards to the unlawful surveillance of the Trump campaign. We’ve highlighted the important details from the document.
The Trump Dossier
Government officials confirmed that the Obama administration used the salacious Trump dossier to obtain FISA warrants for Carter Page. According to House Intel Chairman Devin Nunes, the FBI and DOJ omitted “material and relevant information” from the FISA warrant application.
More specifically, Bureau and Justice officials deliberately omitted details about Hillary Clinton and DNC funding the dossier. This means that both the FBI and DOJ knew the contents were questionable and yet they used the information anyway.
Andrew McCabe – FBI
Former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe admitted that without the dossier, no FISA warrant would’ve been requested form the court. Authored by ex-British spy Christopher Steele and shopped by Fusion GPS, the majority of the dossier was unverified.
McCabe took “early retirement” on Monday.
Steele Anti-Trump Bias
Recently demoted DOJ official Bruce Ohr, whose wife worked for Fusion GPS, revealed shocking details about Steele. Per the memo, Steele told Ohr that “he was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected president and was passionate about him not becoming president.”
Ohr relayed details of Steele’s bias to DOJ officials, but the agency clearly dismissed them.
If all of this isn’t bad enough, the documents also reveal the media’s role in the attack on Trump. When the dossier came-out on Buzzfeed’s website, almost every left-leaning media outlet seized the opportunity to spread the allegations.
Sadly, the memo confirms that officials used media reporting on the issue to boost the credibility of the dossier. Additionally, the documents support claims that Fusion GPS “briefed major American news outlets to include New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, New Yorker, Yahoo and Mother Jones.”
To sum it all up, the FBI and Justice Department used an unverified dossier, compiled by a man who admitted his disdain for Donald Trump, to secure a FISA warrant. Furthermore, officials from these agencies omitted details about Hillary Clinton and the DNC paying for the dossier in the FISA application.
Moreover, McCabe admitted that they would not have asked the FISA court for a warrant without the dossier. But they felt comfortable using it because the liberal media pushed the allegations in the dossier.
Now mind you, all of this led to the Russia investigation that was initiated by anti-Trump, pro-Hillary FBI agent Peter Strzok. This is what Democrats fought to keep Americans from knowing.
