This past Wednesday, President Trump, joined by daughter Ivanka, made an unannounced trip to Dover AFB. The trip was not about politics, it was about honor. He went to honor a fallen soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Chief Special Warfare Operator William “Ryan” Owens was a U.S. Navy Seal that hailed from Peoria, IL. He was killed in Yemen during a raid on an al-Qaida camp in the region. He was 36-years old.

He was also the first U.S. soldier killed in combat since President Trump took office. The president also joined the Owens’ family for a private memorial service after the remains arrived.

He made the plans quietly, only allowing a few members of the press to accompany him on Marine One. And their attendance was conditional upon them not releasing in advance information about the trip.
