Caving to Bullies
It appears as though Belk department store is the latest company to choose politics over principles. Over the weekend, Belk abruptly stopped selling Ivanka Trump apparel and accessories. At least on their website.
A search of their website yielded no results for Ivanka Trump merchandise. It is not yet clear whether or not items are still being sold in stores. Their decision comes just after Nordstrom and Nieman Marcus made the announcement that they were parting ways with Donald Trump’s daughter.
Ironically, “poor performance” was the reason a Belk spokesperson gave for ending the relationship.
“We continually review our assortment and the performance of the brands we carry. And we make adjustments as part of our normal course of business operations.”
Belk has 300 locations across 16 states and has been another target for boycotts from grabyourwallet.org.
And it would seem that what is happening would be better defined as…
Supporters of the extreme left-wing bully group relentlessly call and email companies that do business with the Trump family. Their goal is to cause as many problems as they can for companies who won’t meet their demands.
The sad part about their strategy is that is seems to be working. It has also been discovered that Home Shopping Network has dropped the Trump Home product line.
A spokesperson for HSN has said:
“While we don’t take a political position at HSN, we recognize that our employees, our partners and our customers will have wide-ranging views on politics and public policy. That sometimes means people will have differences of opinion, but we welcome and encourage that diversity of thought.”
Is it just me, or is that statement contrary to their actions?
How can you “welcome and encourage diversity” by refusing to sell products to people on the “right” side of the political aisle?
That has been the problem with the Left from the beginning. Their “love and tolerance” is reserved for those who conform to their agenda.
