Blake Shelton Has Snarky Response to Bryan’s New Album

Blake Shelton isn’t shy about being snarky. So when Luke Bryan‘s new album came out, he didn’t miss the chance to diss him. Bryan’s title asked a simple question: “What makes you country?” Of course, that answer is quite individual. But Bryan’s bro Blake Shelton decided to give a literal answer to the rhetorical question– and the snark wasn’t even subtle.

When Shelton was named Sexiest Man Alive this year, Bryan didn’t just let it go. He definitely threw some shade at Shelton–and even claimed he was being punked.

“Oh … oh my goodness,” Bryan said, reacting to seeing Shelton’s People’s cover. After taking it in for a moment he followed it with even more disbelief. “Blake Shelton. Sexiest Man Alive. I’m speechless. He’s taken so many things from me and now this? Who in the hell is choosing this? Am I being punked?”

Bryan finally resigned himself to the fact– with a noticeable snarky response. “Alright, well, I guess we’re all stuck with it.”

So it seems only fair that Shelton had a chance to take his shot. And he didn’t let the opportunity pass him by.

Shelton decided to help his friend promote his album and take a little revenge. In other words, he managed to kill two birds with one snarky stone.

In a video he posted on Twitter, the “I’ll Name the Dogs” singer pointedly addressed Bryan’s new album.

“I wanted to take a minute and tell you my buddy Luke Bryan has a new album that just came out and it’s called What Makes You Country,” Shelton shared in his video clip. “It got me thinking, if he’s saying that, what makes you country, I start thinking what makes Luke country?”

“Really, the only thing I could come up with is he looks inbred,” Shelton concluded.

Bryan hadn’t responded at press time, but perhaps he will in the future. Then again, maybe he will just accept the evened score and move on. Probably not.
