The Saviors Arrive To Find One Man

The Walking Dead | Photo Credit AMC The Saviors arrive at Hilltop for one man. Ironically, this man is not Daryl. Despite their efforts to come and take away Hilltop’s doctor, they also spend a great deal of time looking around the community.

As the Saviors search high and low for things to take from Hilltop, Maggie and Daryl are forced to hide in the cellar. Once inside, they back into a corner and keep quiet. Daryl holds a knife, but Maggie stops him from making a foolish decision.

Being alone with Maggie, Daryl starts to think of his friend Glenn.

“You were going to kill that guy?” Maggie rhetorically asked. Daryl Dixon responded, knife in hand, “He was going to find us,” but then gave his true answer, “He deserved to die.” This is a glimpse into the new Daryl—the Daryl that murdered Fat Joey.

“Ever since you got here, you haven’t said a word to me,” replied Maggie, who knows what Daryl must be thinking. It’s also important to mention that Daryl has yet to turn around and look at her at this point.

“Would you look at me? Please,” asked Maggie.

When Daryl turns, we see the same Daryl that knocked on Carol’s door. The world of the undead is taking a toll on these characters. Things have gotten steadily worse since Negan showed up.

“I’m sorry,” pleaded Daryl, through tears. “It wasn’t your fault,” replied Maggie, making Daryl nod as he believes it was his fault.

“You’re one of the good things in this world,” replied Maggie.

“That’s what Glenn thought, and he would know—‘cause he was one of the good things, too.”

Daryl Finds Some Level Of Peace

This scene is actually even more heartbreaking than Daryl’s scene with Carol. He was upset she left, but he basically understood. Feeling this enormous guilt for Glenn’s death, while being forced to sit in a cell and think about it, destroyed the Daryl Dixon we knew.

Maggie then reveals that she wants all of the Saviors to die as much as Daryl does, but she also has made it clear that she wants to make a plan. If she wasn’t there, Daryl would have killed that man and perhaps gotten caught in the process.

“We have to win,” clarified Maggie. “Help me win…”

Do you think Daryl Dixon can keep his composure to battle Negan Maggie’s way?
