Carl Grimes Steps Into Rick Grimes Shoes…

In the new clip, Carl Grimes gets out of a beat-up old van and starts walking. The scene is instantly reminiscent of Season 1, Episode 1 when Rick Grimes ran out of gas. Now, his son is carrying an empty gas can.

In the first season, Rick’s concerns were The Walking Dead. Now, years later, his adult son is worried about walkers, Saviors, and even the unknown. Today, it seems like there is trouble around every corner.

Instead of trouble, however, he finds something else.

“Spend On The Traveler…”

Carl Grimes hears a noise, turns, and raises his pistol. Wearing the Sheriff’s hat from his father, he turns with a gun in hand. The boy is on edge but prepared for whatever is about to approach him, seeing as how he’s grown up among the dead.

“I’m just going to say something my mom used to say and hope for the best hear,” said a muffled voice. “Whatever you have of good, spend on the traveler. Mom said that helping the traveler without a home…

“I’m sure you’ve seen things, been through things—you don’t trust people,” said the voice. “I get it…”

Then, Carl Grimes gets down on all fours. He drops the hat and lowers himself down to see from below a vehicle. Again, this is how Rick Grimes first saw the little zombie girl in the pilot episode.

“I don’t even know you. I haven’t eaten in a few days. You might not even be real,” said the voice. Now, Carl Grimes sees two legs a few car lengths away. Then, the weary traveler starts to stand up.

At this point, it’s unclear if the voice is even talking to Carl Grimes or merely talking to himself. Regardless, the Sheriff’s son then runs over to the man and points his gun at him. “Hands up!” he screams before the clip comes to an end.

Based on the trailer and the fact that the man mentioned the Quran, this will be a character named Abbud, played by Avi Nash. Therefore, this is one of the new characters who will be joining the cast this season.

Abbud, the new guy, has been described as “An innately likable Muslim American whose nerves are jangled, because he’s flown solo for too long in zombieland…”

So, do you think Abbud will have a chance to regain his mind?
