Pretty Much Dead Already

Better Angels

Rick and Shane’s conflict finally hit its breaking point in “Better Angels.” The series changed forever when Rick Grimes had to kill his best friend in order to save his family and protect the group from Shane’s impending evil ways.

This episode was a game-changer for the show and for Rick Grimes.

In “Too Far Gone,” the Governor finally got the best of Rick’s gang. Outside the prison walls, the Governor rolled up with a tank and Michonne’s katana to Hershel’s neck as Rick and Maggie’s group had to watch in horror.

Clear

There have been a lot of complaints about the episodes that revolved around a single character, but not when we caught up with Morgan in “Clear.” Rick and Morgan reunited, plus Michonne and Carl got a chance to bond.

Despite the minimal amount of action, this episode remains a fan favorite.

Conquer

In addition to the moment that Rick Grimes had to kill Shane back in Season 2, the Season 5, Episode 16 show “Conquer” made Rick the man he is today. It’s also perhaps the best season finale that the series has ever produced.

The episode balances action, various loose ends, and excitement like the perfect hat trick on television. Not only do we watch up with Carol, Daryl, Morgan, and Glenn, but we also see the edge of Rick Grimes’ breaking point.

In the end, The Walking Dead is partially as popular as it is because of “Conquer.”
