Opening Fox News recently came out with a list of 11 “smart people” who guest starred on The Big Bang Theory. The writer of this list ranked them from the most annoying to the least annoying. I find this to be a very negative way of ranking these people. So, I’m going to rank them from “I’ve never really heard of them” to “my favorite person out of the bunch.” To see the original list click here.

Disclaimer:

Just because I’ve never heard of someone doesn’t mean I don’t think their accomplishment is great. It just means I need to learn more. Basically, I do not mean to insult anyone.

The List

4. Neil deGrasse Tyson – America’s most famous astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson, appears in the Season 4 episode “The Apology Insufficiency”. Sheldon has beef with him because he famously demoted Pluto from planetary status to a mere rock floating in space (technically to “dwarf planet”). I had no idea who Tyson was until I started dating my fiancé. He’s a cool dude.

A lot of people are still sore about the whole Pluto thing. I get it. I was taught that Pluto was a planet too. However, when will we be able to let it go? Sheldon – let it go. Neil is only trying to do his job.

3. Danica McKellar – Danica McKellar didn’t act much in the years after playing Winnie Cooper in The Wonder Years as she focused on her studies. She earned a degree in mathematics from UCLA in 1998. Since then she has since authored several books encouraging teenage girls to excel in math. She appeared in Season 3’s “The Psychic Vortex” as a potential love interest for Raj.

I love The Wonder Years and her outreach to young girls is awesome.

I’m no good at math but there are a lot of girls out there who are skilled in mathematics. There are also a lot of ladies out there that are discouraged from a career in the sciences. Whether it is any branch in science such as chemistry, biology, etc. Our next person, proved the naysayers wrong, however.

2. Mayim Bialik – Yes, Amy is super-smart in real life, too! Mayim Bialik has a Ph.D. in neuroscience, just like her character. I’m a TBBT fan, so of course I’m going to put in her in a top spot. Besides, I’m also a Blossom fan.

FYI: Mayim Bialik thought The Big Bang Theory was a game show before she joined the cast.

1. Bill Nye – The Science Guy appeared in the Season 7 episode “The Proton Displacement” as Sheldon’s new TV scientist friend in an attempt to make Professor Proton jealous. I’m a product of the 90s, what did you expect. Every time I hear the theme song: Bill, Bill, Bill!

Conclusion

That’s it for my version of this list. Is there someone else that you think should be on it? Please share your thoughts. Who is your favorite overall? Or tell me how you would rank them in the comments below.
