Mayim Bialik highlighted her reasons for attending the Silicon Valley science march over the Los Angeles march on her blog, Groknation. It turns out this location was simply convenient for her: “I have my ex’s folks in Silicon Valley and some of my family too. San Jose is kind of the place I spend the most time besides LA, so this felt like a great march to be a part of.

Plus, my ex-mother-in-law’s birthday is today, so it was a win-win choice for me and my ex and my kids to participate so we could be with her.”

Mayim noted that the crowd in Silicon Valley was older than the crowd she had seen at the famous Women’s March. She also noted some funny and clever signs including, “In my day there were 9 planets,” and “There is no PLANet B.” Some one also said, “You don’t have to believe in science for it to be true.”

Mayim is attending this march from a unique perspective. Many celebrities attended to bring awareness to the cause. However, Mayim is both a celebrity and a scientist herself. She has a PhD in nueroscience, and frequently fact checks her character Amy’s lines.
