Willie Robertson and his wife, Korie, sat down with his little brother Jep and his wife, Jessica, to give them some life advice.
Willie and Korie Robertson (photo via YouTube) At the time, Jep and Jessica were looking to adopt a baby. And when it was getting closer to the time when they were to actually adopt, they went to Willie and Korie for help.
Jessica started the conversation.
“A baby boy was born and so we’ll know, hopefully soon, if we can get him,” she said as Jep, Willie, and Korie sat listening.
Every state has different laws about how much time a birth mom is given to officially place her child for adoption. In Louisiana, the birth mom is given five days to sign the papers that transfer the parenthood to the expectant parents — in this case, Jep and Jessica.

Jessica expressed to Willie and Korie that she was having extreme anxiety over this, not knowing if they could adopt this newborn or not. But Jep tried to calm her down, saying they couldn’t really do much in this situation.
“We’re optimistic it’s going to happen,” Jep said. “So we shall see.”
So Willie and Korie, having already adopted Willie Jr. at that time, tried to reassure Jep and Jessica of the process. Willie said when you adopt a baby, something in your brain just clicks.
“Your parental instinct just kick in,” he said.
Korie said when they were going to pick up Willie Jr., she felt as if she was giving birth.
“I just remember when we found out we were going to get [Willie Jr], I had contractions,” she said. “Like, I felt like my body was gonna have a baby. I was so excited.”
And all of this was helpful to Jep and Jessica.
“To get it from somebody’s perspective who’s been through it all, it’s kinda pretty cool,” Jep said. “They can walk you through the steps.”
And as we now know, this baby turned out to be Gus.
