Two of the greatest Pixar movies ever — Toy Story and The Incredibles — are both coming out with sequels – again.
The Incredibles 2
A lot of people are eagerly anticipating The Incredibles 2. And, finally, some good news has surfaced — its release date is now a year earlier than expected. The new release date is now June 15, 2018.
The great Brad Bird will return to direct the sequel. He set the bar high with the first one, so let’s see if he and his crew can deliver like before. Heck, the first one won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature!
Bird said he had a “pile of ideas” from the first Incredibles that didn’t make it into the movie and he would like to possibly use in the second one.
“I had a bunch of ideas that I wanted to put in ‘The Incredibles,’” he said. “But they just didn’t fit. Certain ideas fit, but other things make you go, ‘This is great, but I’d have to give up two other things that matter more to me to get this other thing in.’ So there were a pile of ideas left over from ‘The Incredibles,’ but it’s not a big thing. There were little scenes and things that I was interested in. I wanted to come up with sort of an over-arching idea that connected to the first film that went somewhere different. That’s the one that took a little more time.”
Jack-Jack a Villain?
The plot is reportedly all about Jack-Jack. The opening scene would be Jack-Jack as an older boy, probably about 6 years old. Word has it that he’ll be a villain. Also, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl would be retired superheroes, watching their children following in their footsteps.
Toy Story 4
On the flipside, Toy Story fans will have to wait an extra year after the release date of Toy Story 4 fell back a year. Essentially, The Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 swapped release dates. Now, Toy Story 4 will come out June 21, 2019.
“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,” said John Lassetter, director of Toy Story 1, 2, and now 4. “We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.”
He also said that number four is just too good to not do.
He also added that the Toy Story 4 plot is just too good to pass on. Reports say that the storyline will follow Woody and his toy crew as they set out to find Bo Beep.
